Author Guidelines

We welcome submissions to the Andalasian Livestock, a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research and reviews in animal science. To ensure a streamlined submission process, please follow the guidelines below for preparing your manuscript.

Manuscript Preparation

General Format

  • Language: Manuscripts must be written in clear, professional English.
  • File Format: Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).
  • Page Setup: Use A4 size with 1-inch margins on all sides.
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12-point for main text and 10-point for tables and figure captions.
  • Spacing: Double-spaced throughout, including tables, figure captions, and references.

Manuscript Structure and Content Requirements

  1. Title Page

    • Title: Provide a clear, descriptive title that accurately reflects the content of the paper. Use Times New Roman, 14-point font, bold.
    • Author Information: List all authors' full names, affiliations (department, institution, city, country), and the corresponding author’s email address. Identify the corresponding author with an asterisk (*) after their name.
  2. Abstract

    • Length: 150-250 words.
    • Content: Summarize the purpose of the study, the research methods, key findings, and the main conclusion. The abstract should be understandable independently of the full article.
    • Keywords: Provide 3-6 keywords below the abstract to facilitate indexing and searchability.
  3. Introduction

    • Purpose: Introduce the topic and establish the context by discussing relevant literature.
    • Problem Statement: Clearly define the research problem or question.
    • Objectives: State the specific objectives of the study, highlighting its novelty or relevance to the field.
    • Significance: Briefly discuss the importance of the study and its potential contributions to animal science.
  4. Materials and Methods

    • Design and Approach: Clearly describe the experimental or study design.
    • Materials and Equipment: Specify any unique materials, chemicals, or equipment used, including the source and specifications, if applicable.
    • Methodology: Provide sufficient detail on the procedures followed, allowing others to replicate the study. Include descriptions of any treatments, controls, sampling methods, and analytical techniques.
    • Statistical Analysis: Detail the statistical methods used, including software, significance thresholds, and any specific tests performed.
  5. Results

    • Presentation: Present findings in a logical sequence, using tables and figures where appropriate. Avoid discussing the implications here; focus only on presenting the data.
    • Tables and Figures: Embed tables and figures within the text, as close to the relevant section as possible. Each should be numbered consecutively (e.g., Table 1, Figure 1) and have descriptive titles or captions.
    • Statistical Significance: Clearly indicate any statistically significant findings and use standard symbols (e.g., p < 0.05) to report significance levels.
  6. Discussion

    • Interpretation: Interpret the findings in the context of the research question and previous studies. Discuss whether the results support or challenge existing literature.
    • Implications: Address the broader implications of the findings for the field of animal science.
    • Limitations: Acknowledge any limitations of the study that could impact the interpretation or generalizability of the results.
    • Future Research: Suggest directions for future research based on the study's outcomes.
  7. Conclusion

    • Summary of Findings: Briefly summarize the key findings.
    • Takeaways: Highlight the main contributions of the study and its potential impact on the field.
  8. References

    • Style: Use APA referencing style for all citations.
    • Completeness: Ensure every source cited in the text is included in the reference list and vice versa. Use up-to-date and relevant sources.
  9. Tables and Figures

    • Tables: Number tables sequentially and provide a descriptive title above each table. Tables should be clear and easy to read, with any footnotes placed below the table.
    • Figures: Number figures sequentially and provide captions below each figure. High-quality images (300 dpi) in .jpeg or .png format are recommended for clarity.
